 % has to calculate on the remaining value for e.g.if you want to know the stamp duty payable on Rs. 6,50,000/- then   you fall into slab of rate range from 5,00,000/- to 7,50,000/- which is 8,750/- + 6% (this 6% shell be calculated as { your value [6,50,000/-] }  less  {lower  limit of slab [5,00,000/-] } ) * 6 %  this will give you answer as Rs.17,750
